I.Family Study in Sweden

We have finalized the first part of the I.Family-study which lasted one year, from March 2013 to March 2014. Children from the previous IDEFICS-study and their parents and siblings were invited to participate. We worked in two teams at schools in Partille, Mölndal and Alingsås.

We want to sincerely thank all participants who came once again for a health survey. We have collected a lot of valuable information and we are soon done entering the data into the database. This will enable us to make analysis which will help us identify and understand factors that influence the lifestyle, for instance dietary habits.

We are now working with the second part of the I.Family-study in which only a selection of children and their parents will participate. We have for instance made a study in a school canteen which aimed to encourage children to eat more vegetables at lunch. Currently, we are studying children’s brain activity while watching healthy and unhealthy foods. The brain activity is measured by a functional MRI scanner at a local hospital (SU/Östra). In this study we also investigate the children’s sleeping habits, media use, taste preferences and wellbeing. We will invite some of you to participate in this study and we hope that it is OK that we contact you again.

The results from the I.Family-study will generate guidelines for a healthy lifestyle – thank you for making this possible.

Best regards

The Swedish I.Family-team
