I.Family Study – Cyprus

The I.Family study has been launched successfully in Cyprus since the 13th of March 2013. Participants were invited to take part via telephone and appointments for examinations were made. This method will continue to be used. Participants are being recruited from two areas in Cyprus, Strovolos a suburb of the capital Nicosia and Paphos, a coastal city located south-west of the island.

The I.Family study measurements hope to be completed by April 2014. The families who are participating in the study will be interviewed and measured at the offices of the Research and Education Institute of Child Health (REF). To greet the participants, take measurements, interviews and biosamples are REF’s well-trained pediatricians, nutritionist, psychologist and field workers.

From the I.Family study we hope to leave our participants with favourable impressions concerning our institute and a sense of pride for having participated in I.Family’s pioneering research. In addition, we hope to add to the scientific community knowledge concerning the most important influences on young people’s dietary habits, behaviour and way of life with the aspiration to have happier, healthier and more active children and teenagers in the future.
