I.Family is funded by the European Commission through Framework Programme 7 under contract number 266044 (KBBE 2010-4).

The work programme for 2012 with c.EUR7 billion is the EC’s biggest ever funding package under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research (FP7). It is expected to create 174,000 jobs in the short term and nearly 450,000 jobs and Eur80 billion in GDP growth over 15 years.

Grants are made to promote research to tackle the biggest societal challenges facing Europe and the world. Universities, research organisations and industry are among the more then 16,000 funding recipients.
