I.Family showcased at EXPO Milano

logoExpo1The I.Family Study has been invited to take part in the world’s biggest science exhibition in Italy this week – EXPO Milano 2015.

The event, which takes place every five years, is running from May 1st to October 31st and will attract around 20 million visitors from all over the world.

The Co-ordinator of the I.Family project, Wolfgang Ahrens,  Professor at the University of Bremen and Deputy Director of BIPS, was invited by the EC to take part in a showcase symposium at the EXPO on May 14th – ‘Tackling obesity via EU-funded research and development’ – to present the I.Family Study  alongside other EC-funded projects with a similar research scope.

This year’s EXPO – Feed the Planet – is focused on guaranteeing ‘healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium.’  For the next six months, Milan will become a global centre for over 140 participating countries to demonstrate how the ‘best of their technology’ is addressing and supporting sustainable, healthy future-food strategies.

“As a project examining the determinants of health and nutrition behaviour in European families, I.Family is uniquely placed to contribute to the topic of this year’s EXPO,” says Professor Ahrens.   “It’s an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of I.Family and the questions currently being addressed by our research centres.”
